So here we are, almost at the end of a crazy 2013 and it seems to me that the last 4 years have whizzed by in an instant. When I returned to Mumbai after 1 year of studying glass at the International Glass Centre in Brierly Hill, UK I had no idea that it would take me four years to setup a Glass Art studio for myself and that too in Vadodara. Apart from the fact that glass is one of the most expensive materials to work with, India was particularly ignorant of Glass Art especially Kiln-Working and Glass Blowing. After many trials and errors, some bad decisions and some hurtful letdowns me, Ekta and WonkyWorks, my studio are both very very excited over the moon, jittery with hyper ecstatic anticipation, excited with butterflies in the stomach for our much awaited Hot Shop (glass-blowing workshop, for the glass illiterates ;)).Furnaces are getting doors, glass batch is in international waters, and colours are waiting to be cleared with the customs. The bench is almost ready and finally the electricity connection will be utilised at it’s fullest…
The gallery which is the entire ground floor + grounds of our bungalow is gearing up for some major pieces being displayed in the coming months. And for all the people interested in Glass Art, Glass, Wonkiness, Bikes, Art and Food the WonkyGallery will be opening it’s doors sometime this month along with a Cafe unlike anything in Vadodara or maybe anywhere. We hope to show you some Cool Glass Art and serve you some Awesome Food while you are in our WonkyGallery…
